Guide to storm and flood prevention
1. PURPOSE:
This guide will be a general method to prevent and deal with and flood problems.
2. SCOPE:
This guide applies to every department in the company.
3. CONTENT & RESPONSIBILITY:
When receiving news of storm, or flood happening on means of communication, The EPD has to inform all the departments in the company and carefully inspect the development of the problem. The EPD must prepare proper responses to the problem in order to protect lives and property in the company.
• As for storm or tropical depression: The EPD tracks its direction and determines where its main center is? How strong the wind at the center is? Which level is the tropical depression? At what longitude and latitude? Which direction it is heading to and how many kms/h the wind speed is?
• If the storm or tropical depression goes by the company area, announce the delay in working to all employees. Turn off electricity, move the products to the warehouse and keep at high places for safety. Remember to carefully wrap easy-to- wet products in nylon and close all the doors in the company, warehouse and factory. Evacuate employees to safe places as well.
• As for flood: The EPD must update information from mass media and give specific guidance about dealing with flood: the water flow, water level or active time.
• Turn off electricity, move products to safe place, close all the doors of warehouse, factory…. Prepare enough rescue tools and flood prevention equipments.
• Move the factory facility upstairs (use half the area of the fabric and timber warehouse)
• Move the Garment products to the shelves and keep in containers and 1 meter high above the ground (depend on the water level announced on the mass media).

• Mass media in use: Newspaper, weather report on TV, radio….
• Urgent situations and solutions.
• Procedure for exchanging information on environment.
• Procedure for responding to urgent situations.
• Procedure for identifying legal and other requirements.
5. RECORDS:
• Report on damage caused by natural calamities.
• Report on the result of flood prevention.
