Steps to certify ISO 9001

Stages of certification of ISO 9001

1. Select a certification authority

The selection of certification authority is performed prior to the assessment of certificate at least 01-02 months. The Certification fee will be as agreed by parties and in accordance with the scope of the project.

The certification authority must meet the following requirements:

• An independent qualified organization authorized to assess and certify the Quality Control System (QCS) of an administrative governmental office to be in accordance with ISO 9001; and
• Have a full legal corporate capacity;
• Operate in the segment of QCS Certification and be legally established under Rules;
• Have relevant certificate of or being certificated by relevant organization of being member of the International Accreditation Forum (or IAF)
• Have at least 02 experts with university degree or higher and being trained of and certificated about Quality Control and Administrative Management, with good personality and full civil capacity;
• Having registered for certification at the Ministry of Science and been certificated.

2. Prior-certification Assessment

After a certification authority is selected, if necessary or as agreed, this authority will carry out prior-certification assessment at the Organization. This assessment will not be valid for certification but for unifying the scope, and purpose and assessing the actual capacity of the organization (preliminary assessment or test assessment).

3. Assessment of Certification

After correcting problems identified in the Preliminary assessment, the Organization will agree with the Authority about the date of certification and reply in writing to the Authority for approval.

4. Correction after Assessment

During the assessment of certification, if there is any non-conformity, the Authority will request the organization to make correction. After correcting problems, the organization will report in writing to the authority for reviewal.

5. Certification of the System

When the organization has met the standard, the authority will issue a certificate of ISO 9001:2000. Usually, the certification will take about 01 months after assessment.

6. System Maintenance

Establishing an appropriate Quality Control System is very important, however, the more important is the maintenance of the system. In order to keep the performance of the system, a periodic evaluation should be carried out every 3 months and a 6 month examination by the Authority for improvement and innovation is expected. In any serious non-conformity is identified in the examination by the Authority, the certificate may subject to be suspended until the organization has made correction.
