What is HEALTH & SAFETY RISK ASSESSMENT in SA 8000?
HEALTH & SAFETY RISK ASSESSMENT. A health and safety risk assessment is a careful examination of the workplace to assess what could cause harm to people. The risk assessment should look at all hazards (fire, chemicals, dust, noise, heat, cold, slips and trips etc) and then assess the level of risk (the chance, great or small, that someone will be harmed by the hazard). This review should cover all areas of the production site. Once a risk has been identified, an action plan should be formulated to set out what will be done in that area to remove or minimise the risk and to protect workers. The action plan should state what will be done, by when.
